What it is

DoorDroppr is a marketing platform for door-to-door flyer campaigns. An owner picks a neighbourhood, the iOS app records each walk, and unique QR codes join the ground covered to the scans, leads and bookings it brought in. Customers order and print their flyers on the same platform.

What I did

  • Co-founded DoorDroppr and built the core foundations of every pillar of the platform: the field app, area targeting, attribution, the print platform and the admin suite Skills: Product Management · Team Leadership · System Design
  • Built the iOS field app in React Native, with GPS-tracked walks in the foreground and background, a planned-route guide, coverage history and a live team map Skills: Mobile Application Development · React Native · TypeScript
  • Built census-based area targeting that scores neighbourhoods by income, density and home ownership before a campaign starts Skills: Data Analysis · PostgreSQL
  • Built attribution and conversion tracking end to end: one QR code per area, every scan logged, sales reported from the business's site, results from doors to revenue Skills: Full-Stack Development · API Design
  • Built the print platform: flyer ordering, a proof checked by a person before anything prints, and portals for print partners and designers Skills: Full-Stack Development · Next.js
  • Built the admin suite, including a full webmail system for customer and partner email Skills: Full-Stack Development
  • Tuned the activity-verification model to the phone's limits on heat and battery, moving scoring to the server Skills: Machine Learning · Performance Optimization

Highlights

Tells real walking from driving or faked GPS

A GPS track is easy to fake, so the phone fuses GPS with the pedometer, accelerometer and barometer: a kilometre on foot logs about 1,300 steps, a car logs none. The model was tuned to the phone's limits: running it continuously on the device overheated the phone and drained the battery, so the phone only extracts features and scoring runs on the server. Training data comes from walking real routes, then driving and faking the same ones. Skills: Machine Learning · Mobile Application Development

Tracks conversions even when ad blockers are on

A small script on the business's website reports each lead and sale, and the same events are also sent from the server, which ad blockers cannot stop. The same approach recovered 30 to 40% of lost conversions on the Bespoke Business Platform. Each area's QR code starts the chain, so a booking traces back to the street that brought it in.
